The Empire State Building at Night...

Times Square.
The Chrysler Building
Long Island City...
Manhattan!
OK... So it was snowing when we went to the Empire State Building and here in the 86th floor Observation Deck it was literally so high up the wind changed directions and it was snowing up! I thought it was cool... but you can't really tell in the pictures...
In the Lobby there is this awesome art deco wall mural... isn't it beautiful?
So i might have to explain this pic... lol... These signs are posted all along the floor where you switch elevators at the Empire State Building, because well its under construction... obviously... and so Andrea and I thought it would be funny to pose with these "hotties"...

PS - The people working there loved us. apparently they don't have anything else to do but hit on girls who come through because Andrea and I were hit on by everyone we met... it was really disgusting actually... we were like don't talk to us! Leave us alone! seriously lost count of how many skeezy guys work there... my fave of the night was the man who took my ticket at the entrance and said, "Oh Baby where you been! I've been waiting for you all day..." and then later after Andrea called my name to get my attention, the same man said, "Oh your name is Summer? Oh really? cause my name is Spring..." wow. amazing. Followed closely by my second favorite... which was the guy running the elevator said that Andrea and I were "buzzling"... we are still wondering what this means? Any ideas?

A warning to young females who want to go and see the Empire State Building at night (it is open until 12pm by the way...) be prepared to be cat-called and harassed the entire time by uninteresting and unattractive males.

Adventures in Tourist-land

So since I have been back in the city almost a month now... I thought maybe i should post again...

I have been busy working on many different projects which is very exciting and I am almost get paid! (i have decided that I love working in theatre because I love the money i make working in it... not!) And I have had several friends visit/move here and so i have been doing more of the touristy New York things that I feel like I kinda should have done when i first moved here... Highlights include the Cloisters, (the Met's medieval art museum which I felt was beautiful in a rare and unique way. It really felt like walking into a medieval cloister. Loved it. But i need to go back in the spring when all the gardens are in bloom...), The Statue of Liberty (the ferry to go out there take forever to get there and get back, but it was really interesting... didn't make it to the Ellis Island Musuem. I heard its really moving and i defiantly want to in the future.)and the Empire State Building at night... (I would say its not really worth going to in the day only because you would probably have to wait in a billion lines... but to see all the city lights at night and to not have to wait in any line was totally more fun... and it was snowing when i went. which was beautiful! and its just so much more magical in the dark i thought.) And I also went back to the Frick Collection, my new Fave art museum. (its so quiet, and intimate. Its not very crowded so you can actually get up really close to the artwork and really see it. It feels like a very European style museum to me and it has a great selection of great masters. loved it.) and i also went to the Museum of Natural History which i wasn't a huge fan of...(There were just too many people there! So many kids traveling in packs! yuck! nightmare! and i felt like the exhibits were not interactive enough... I was a little bored of all the glass panoramas with taxidermied animals in them. they kind of freaked me out and overall i felt it was a little outdated but I loved the Dinosaurs, Hall of Biodiversity and the Hall of Ocean Life with the Giant blue whale. that I enjoyed.) I also really enjoyed the New York Public Library. It has the most beautiful architecture on the inside. All marble and wood and very sumptuous. I felt like i wanted to curl up in one of the reading rooms and read for hours and hours... Anyway... here are some pictures of the things I have seen... ttfn!

You Belong in Soho

You are probably a kind of professional artist, you do dabble in all forms of art. And you love indie culture of all kinds - from little boutiques to art house films.
