Observations...
SO... here it is... my personal observations that have accumulated for the past few weeks direct from me to you....
1)NYC has selective stank... Now let me explain. NYC does on the whole not smell bad at all, compared to Paris where stank is everywhere. New York has a selective odor so that when you walk into a pocket of it you are caught by surprise... most of the time I have to sniff myself to make sure its not my own B.O. but no friends it is not me it is just the beauty of NYC.
2) Plays really are SO much better then when
you read them... case and point was the production of A Doll's House I saw at Julliard tonight. Amazing (even though their Nora was totally annoying...)What a powerful play! I had no idea it was this profound when i read it in theatre history... I was so moved by the end of it...
and its been a while since that has happened in the theatre for me. but it was an excellent production and I highly recommend it friends.
3) People in New York talk to themselves out loud a lot. I have noticed a lot of times when normally in any other context people yelling "JESUS CHRIST LOVES ME" at the top of their voice at the bus stop is totally normal but i guess its just par for the course here in the big apple (?) but what is highly more entertaining is when you
see/hear people singing to themselvesout loud on the street... the thing that gets me is that they aren't saying it for any noticeable reason it just happens. That's right you heard it here first folks, People really can bust out into song for no reason. I didn't believe it was true either until now... I'm a believer.
4) New York City really does have a ton of PEOPLE! omg... you could go months and months and months and never see the same people twice if you wanted too... I have never seen so many different people in my life... but its still amazing how you can always be surrounded by people here on all sides (especially on the subway at rush hour)and still feel really alone. and insignificant.
5)Personal communication and having a good attitude are HUGE! and can get you a really long way here in the city... not everything of course but it makes life so much easier. (A smile? really? who does that?) people here can be sooooo cold sometimes but it definatly makes you appreciate the people who do have good manners and say Hello and Thank you and all that. I am finding myself trying to be the most polite I can possibly be at all times, cause that is how I would like to be treated... too bad it doesn't work that way...
6) There is so much walking in this city! more than almost any European cities I visited or lived in... except for maybe Rome. I can't believe how lazy I am. I sicken myself sometimes.
oh and I am going to the Rocky Horror Picture Show tommorow in honor of Halloween... I have always wanted to go! pictures and blog about said expereince to come! YAY!
and
PS... why are there so many coke references in Oasis songs?? I never
noticed this until recently when I have begun listening to them
frequently again... All your dreams are made when you are chained to a mirror and a razor blade? come on who are you fooling? (apparently me when I was 12 and bought this CD for the first time...) whatevs.
I don't believe in Miracles anymore...
